Carriageway Treatment and Traffic Calming

The road had vehicle overrunning issues, poor surfacing due to damaged and differential settled road base and drivers on average exceeding the speed limit.  The highway design scheme included carriageway widening, repair, resurfacing and traffic calming works. Uretek grout was used to stabilize the concrete base, Rhino joint master to repair cracks in the base and strengthen the new joint and strengthening with a geotechnical membrane. The traffic calming involved the introduction of speed cushions, lane narrowing and a raised junction.
