We’re pleased to confirm the successful completion of several parking stress surveys across the London Borough of Bexley. Each survey was carried out in full compliance with the Hybrid requirements of the Lambeth Methodology required by Bexley Council.

Bexley’s hybrid approach builds upon the core Lambeth methodology, incorporating additional local requirements to ensure a more conservative and rigorous assessment of on-street parking capacity and potential impacts from new development.

All survey parameters, including the 200m / 2-minute walking distance and survey dates — were agreed in advance with the client. In areas with specific local constraints, the Highway Planning team was consulted to approve the final survey extents and timing.

Surveys were conducted overnight on two weekdays (Monday–Thursday) to provide an accurate snapshot of peak residential parking demand.

The key variation from the Lambeth methodology, and a unique requirement of Bexley Council, is the use of 5.5m bay lengths for capacity calculations, as opposed to the standard 5.0m. This results in a more conservative estimate of available parking, in line with local policy.

Each survey included a detailed inventory map and results plan, recording legal bays, restrictions, actual vehicle occupancy, and any illegally or informally parked vehicles. This level of detail ensures a reliable and policy-aligned parking stress calculation.

The outcomes for all surveyed sites confirmed that the proposed developments would not result in excessive parking stress on surrounding streets, supporting a positive and policy-compliant planning process.
